Traffic
In some cases, being convicted of a traffic violation
can be a big deal. In Missouri, as in most states, a person's driving
privileges are based upon a point system. A certain number of points
are assessed depending upon the type of traffic conviction involved.
For example, in Missouri, speeding in violation of state law carries
three points and a first conviction of driving while intoxicated carries
eight points. The driver's license of any person who has accumulated
eight points in eighteen months is suspended.
